World Trade Remembered
From 1986 to1993, I took a series of photographs inside the World Trade Tower of people entering and coming out of the elevators, with black and white film that I processed and printed in a rather crude way. These photos became the inspiration for a series of paintings during the same timeframe.
In thinking about the tenth anniversary memorial events, I revisited the photographs, choosing a group comprised mostly of men entering into the elevators; it has always haunted me that the people entering into those dark spaces seemed to be entering a void. I have included the photos in order to lend a certain authenticity to my paintings by sharing the historical reference.
